Would you let Cousin Joey lay the foundation of your house when he's not a qualified contractor? Probably not. So why would you let Cousin Joey build your website? Just as the foundation of your house supports the structure of your house, a website needs to be a solid support of your business. Something thrown together by someone who doesn't totally understand website design is going to look cheap. And CHEAP is not something you want to be a first impression of your business. This goes for Churches as well. Churches so often have someone in the congregation who is like Cousin Joey and thinks they can design the website. Nine times out of ten, this isn't going to look very good. The web design for the church looks cheap, bad colors, doesn't flow and broken links. Even worse for a church is that once people realize you need a quality site, feelings get hurt if you hire someone to redo the website. Or worse yet, Cousin Joey leaves the church and suddenly you don't have anyone to maintain your site. For just a few hundred dollars, all of this can be avoided. Like hiring a contractor for your house, hiring a website designer is going to cost you some money. But this is money well spent. You will have a quality website. Quite often you can even have the designer create it in such a way that you can maintain the main content of the website yourself. This is known as Content Management Systems (CMS). So, before your call on Cousin Joey, contact a professional website designer. You'll be glad you did. |
