Who Uses the Yellow Pages?

The other day the Yellow Pages were delivered to my doorstep.  I don't know how they get there, as I don't order them.  They just show up once a year.  And each year I do the same thing, throw it in the garbage.

There was a time when people lived by the Yellow Pages.  If you needed a repairman, you let your fingers do the walking.  They were very useful in their time.

Today, if I need anything, I don't let my fingers do the walking.  I let my good friend Google do the walking for me.  I simply type in what I want and Google gives me a list of "results".  So, for me, if a company doesn't have a web presence, I will not find them.

The amazing part about the yellow pages, is it costs more per year for a quarter page listing in the yellow pages than it does to have a quality web page built.

Unlike the yellow pages, the content on a web page can change from day to day, week to week, month to month.  You can change your specials depending on the time of year.

So, before you pay to advertise in a book that most people throw away, think about allocating that portion of your budget this year to having a quality website designer design your website.  The initial cost is really a one time cost, with just a minor monthly hosting fee after that.
